Rosie Fiore was astonished when she first read Dracula. Nothing prepared her for the pace, modernity and energy of Stoker’s novel. She yearned to see a performed adaptation that told the story as he did, especially ending with the breakneck chase and confrontation at the Borgo Pass. She could not find one, so she wrote and directed her own.

Her aim was to create something that as closely as possible presented the original text. Almost all the lines spoken were written by Stoker. All the major characters appear, and while the staging was innovative, the play echoes the book’s plot, beat for beat.

It was first performed at the Bridewell Theatre in London in December 2019.
